Controller – FinTech Startup

About the role

The company is a high‑growth fintech startup seeking a Controller to join the finance leadership team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will build and scale the accounting function, supporting the company’s rapid expansion and future IPO.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end accounting, including month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
• Lead technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718) and complex financial instruments.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Manage external audit relationships and lead the annual audit process.
• Build a SOX‑ready control environment in preparation for a public listing.
• Oversee foreign currency, intercompany and multi‑jurisdictional reporting.
• Partner with FP&A, Legal, Compliance, Tax and Operations on business initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor and grow a high‑performing accounting team.
• Drive finance‑tech system implementation and optimization.

Required profile

• CPA certification.
• Background at a Big 4 public accounting firm.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606, ASC 718 and consolidations.
• Hands‑on experience managing external audits and building internal control frameworks.
• Proven ability to build and scale accounting teams in high‑growth environments.
• Experience implementing or improving financial systems and workflows.
