Controller – Financial Reporting & Accounting Lead

About the role

Funnel Leasing Inc. is seeking a seasoned Controller to join its finance team. The role blends strategic financial guidance with hands‑on oversight of accounting operations, tax compliance, and treasury functions. While the position is primarily remote, the incumbent will work on‑site in the Tampa Bay area a few days each week to collaborate with the headquarters in Odessa, Florida.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and deliver insights to senior leadership.
• Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Supervise the Accounting Manager and 1‑2 accounting staff, overseeing AP, AR, collections, payroll, and month‑end close.
• Drive automation and efficiency improvements across accounting workflows.
• Manage company tax obligations, including sales and income taxes, and coordinate with the tax firm and Avalara.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to protect company assets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior accounting or controller role, preferably within a SaaS or technology environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, and tax compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for presenting financial information to executives and boards.
