Controller – Finance Leader for Energy Efficiency Programs

About the role

SEEL (Solutions for Energy Efficient Logistics) is expanding its finance team and seeks an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and ensure financial integrity across multiple energy‑efficiency programs.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, revenue recognition, payroll, AP/AR, and month‑end close.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Design and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to support audit readiness.
• Partner with the VP of Finance and senior leadership to provide financial insights, risk analysis, and decision support.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee utility program revenue accounting, contract review, and cost allocation.
• Support budgeting, rolling forecasts, and program‑level performance monitoring.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
• Drive system enhancements and automation initiatives to improve accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (master’s preferred).
• CPA certification highly desired.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with utility program accounting or energy‑efficiency consulting preferred.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and communicate complex financial topics.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with financial systems and automation tools.
