Controller – Finance & Accounting Lead

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to become the financial anchor of a fast‑growing company in Boston. You will lead a small accounting team, oversee full‑cycle accounting, and provide precise project‑level reporting across active jobs.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all general ledger activities, month‑end and year‑end close, financial statement preparation, and internal controls in line with GAAP.
• Lead the annual operating budget, build rolling forecasts, and conduct variance analysis for company overhead and project budgets.
• Manage work‑in‑progress schedules, track job costs, analyze project profitability, and partner with project managers on revenue recognition.
• Forecast cash flow, manage working capital, and coordinate billing cycles.
• Mentor and supervise a dedicated accounting team, ensuring coverage of all accounting functions.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial workflows, job‑cost tracking, and ERP reporting tools.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive experience in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (A/E/C) industry.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Deep understanding of GAAP and project‑level financial reporting.
