Controller – Fashion & Apparel

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Controller to lead the financial accounting function for a fashion & apparel company. This high‑impact position blends operational ownership with strategic insight in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory.
• Prepare and deliver timely financial statements and management reports.
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings.
• Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Develop financial models for strategic initiatives and scenario planning.
• Provide insights on cash flow, working capital, and cost optimization.
• Support board reporting and investor communications.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting and reporting workflows.
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and automation tools.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and risk‑management protocols.
• Manage and mentor a small team of accountants and analysts.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Experience in the wholesale industry is a plus.
• CPA license is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
