Controller – Build Accounting Function

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Controller to build fomo‑labs' accounting function from the ground up. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will partner with leadership to support strategic decision‑making, risk management, capital planning, and organizational growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the accounting function, including month‑end close, operating model, policies, controls, and future team structure.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, delivering accurate and timely financial statements.
• Oversee the general ledger and core accounting operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, payroll accounting, fixed assets, expenses, and vendor processes.
• Develop accounting treatment, data flows, reconciliations, and controls for digital‑asset activity, wallets, on‑chain transactions, trading‑related fees, and treasury movements.
• Lead selection, implementation, and integration of accounting tools such as an ERP, crypto subledger, expense management, procurement, payroll, and reporting systems.
• Establish and maintain financial controls, accounting policies, and approval frameworks suitable for a high‑growth fintech.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, valuation firms, and ensure audit and diligence readiness.
• Coordinate federal, state, local, and other tax compliance and planning with external advisors.
• Collaborate across Legal, Operations, Product, and Engineering teams.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems.
• Knowledge of crypto subledger and digital‑asset accounting.
• Proficiency in expense‑management and procurement tools.
• Familiarity with payroll and financial reporting systems.
