Controller – Accounting Operations Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing organization in Shawnee, Kansas. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and provide insightful analysis to support strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Direct month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries to preserve data integrity.
• Prepare and review internal and external financial reports, highlighting trends, risks, and performance drivers.
• Lead GAAP compliance and audit readiness through thorough documentation and robust controls.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress balances and project accounting to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition.
• Partner with leadership on forecasts, financial results analysis, and performance improvement recommendations.
• Supervise daily accounting operations and drive process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP and practical application in a business setting.
• Proven ability to build, maintain, and enforce internal controls and accounting best practices.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
