Controller – Accounting Operations & FP&A

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Controller to lead accounting operations and expand into FP&A, acquisition integration and finance automation for a fast‑growing, sponsor‑backed professional services firm. This remote, full‑time position partners directly with senior finance and executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day accounting operations including payroll, AR, AP, reconciliations and month‑end close, ensuring speed, accuracy and repeatability.
• Develop and improve financial reporting packages, variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting and board‑level reporting.
• Lead integration of accounting processes for newly acquired business lines, aligning GL, reporting and data cleanup.
• Assess and modernize the finance tech stack, driving automation of close, reconciliations, AP workflows and reporting.
• Manage and develop a senior accountant/accounting specialist direct report.

Required profile

• Proven Controller‑level experience in a small‑ to mid‑size business with end‑to‑end accounting responsibility.
• Exposure to FP&A activities such as forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting or board reporting.
• Experience in a sponsor‑backed, PE‑backed or high‑growth environment where speed and reporting quality are critical.
• Background in professional‑services or project‑based accounting, including fixed‑price revenue models.
• Demonstrated ability to support acquisition integration and work closely with senior finance leadership.

Required skills

• ERP implementation or finance system modernization experience.
• Automation of month‑end close, reconciliations, AP or reporting workflows.
• Preparation of lender‑facing data, debt reporting or covenant tracking.
• Familiarity with audit support in sponsor‑backed or acquisition‑oriented settings.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary range $140,000‑$175,000.
