Controller – Accounting Department Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting department for a retail client generating $10‑20M in revenue. The role combines hands‑on bookkeeping supervision, financial reporting, and strategic partnership with executive leadership on budgeting and cash‑flow planning.

Key responsibilities

• Direct, mentor and evaluate bookkeepers and accounting clerks.
• Prepare accurate, GAAP‑compliant monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Design, implement and monitor financial policies.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow analysis processes.
• Coordinate external audits and manage tax filings with local, state and federal agencies.
• Create clear financial metrics, KPIs and detailed reports for individual departments.
• Maintain product costing structures and margin analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving and data‑analysis abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Competitive salary range of $120,000‑$140,000 DOE.
