Contractual Employment Specialist

About the role

The Chicago Urban League is looking for a Contractual Employment Specialist to join its Workforce Development department. In this contract role you will provide individualized employment counseling, develop job placement opportunities, and help young adults and adult participants achieve their career goals.

Key responsibilities

• Place at least 35 program participants each month in permanent, part‑time, apprenticeship, training, or education positions.
• Develop and secure employment and internship opportunities for participants.
• Leverage existing relationships with local employers, schools, and training providers to meet placement targets.
• Assist participants with job search activities, including completing applications.
• Guide young adult participants in completing Individual Employment Plans (IEPs).
• Report monthly placement data such as hire letters, salary information, and enrollment details.

Required profile

• Established relationships with employers and proven job placement experience.
• Experience working with low‑income populations.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience helping job seekers with resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and career planning.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, networking, and relationship‑building abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using workforce management databases.
• Familiarity with applicant tracking systems or similar data‑tracking platforms.

What we offer

• Contract compensation of $5,000 per month.
