About the role
The Institute for a Disaster Resilient Texas is looking for a versatile Content Writer/Copywriter to turn complex research and program information into clear, engaging content that supports its mission of building resilient communities across Texas.
Key responsibilities
- Write, edit and proofread a wide range of materials including news releases, feature stories, web copy, email campaigns, social media posts, brochures, annual reports, talking points and executive communications.
- Maintain a consistent organizational narrative and tone, adapting style for diverse audiences such as peers, funding agencies, community members and internal staff.
- Translate technical and programmatic information into accessible language for both long‑form and short‑form publications.
- Collaborate with teams across the institute to identify content needs, develop editorial calendars and align content with strategic priorities.
- Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy, credibility and relevance of all published material.
Required profile
- Exceptional writing and editing abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong project‑management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Portfolio of previous writing work (highly recommended).
- Willingness to work on‑site in Houston, TX or College Station, TX.
- Ability to adapt content to various audiences and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
