Content Editor / Communications Specialist

About the role

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Content Editor/Communications Specialist to join its Content Governance team. In this hybrid position you will edit and proofread a wide range of internal and external materials, ensuring brand consistency, grammatical accuracy, and compliance with risk guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Support the manager or program director in activating communications campaigns.
• Plan, execute, and deliver tactics for comprehensive communications initiatives.
• Author, edit, and proof articles, letters, emails, newsletters, social media copy, signage, and other content.
• Provide ad‑hoc writing support to team members and clients.
• Create and manage timelines for each tactic using project‑management software.
• Obtain necessary approvals (management, legal/risk, etc.) before publication.
• Monitor the effectiveness of communications and flag items for further risk assessment.

Required profile

• Keen attention to detail.
• Strong command of written English.
• Knowledge of AP style.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.
• Healthcare communications experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AP style guidelines.
• Proficiency with project‑management software.
