Consumer Affairs Manager

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a Consumer Affairs Manager to lead its Consumer Affairs (CA) Department within the Supervision and Risk Management Division. This senior position oversees consumer compliance supervision for banks and holding companies across the Tenth Federal Reserve District, ensuring adherence to federal consumer protection laws.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of supervisors responsible for monitoring compliance with fair lending, the Community Reinvestment Act, and other consumer protection regulations.
• Develop and prioritize projects, workflows, and resources to meet departmental objectives and Federal Reserve System goals.
• Review and approve supervisory reports, papers, and correspondence for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
• Make complex supervisory decisions, balancing regulatory requirements with broader systemic impacts.
• Communicate findings and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
• Attract, motivate, and develop talent within the department.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in bank supervision, consumer compliance, or related regulatory fields.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop professional staff.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, especially in complex or adversarial situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high‑level presentations.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of federal consumer protection laws and regulations (e.g., Fair Lending, CRA).
• Proven supervisory and managerial experience within a banking or financial regulatory environment.
