Consulting / Principal Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced Consulting / Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and management of large‑scale database systems and backend platforms for LexisNexis Risk Solutions. The role combines deep database architecture expertise with Java‑based application development to deliver scalable, high‑performance data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints for both OLTP and OLAP environments.
• Write, troubleshoot, and tune complex SQL queries, including joins, CTEs, and window functions.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and functions with strong ownership of transaction management and concurrency control.
• Debug and resolve production issues such as slow queries, deadlocks, and high resource utilization.
• Build and enhance Java data‑access layers using JDBC and ORM frameworks like Hibernate or JPA.
• Create and support ETL pipelines for large‑scale data extraction, transformation, and batch processing.
• Automate database operations with Bash or shell scripts, handling backups, job scheduling, and monitoring on Linux/Unix systems.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on databases.
• Proven expertise in relational databases (MySQL preferred) and advanced SQL performance tuning.
• Solid experience with Java, JDBC, and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
• Hands‑on experience in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues and optimize system performance.
