Consultant – Development of Pilot Gender‑Sensitive Climate Change Indicators

About the role

The United Nations Statistical Division (UNSD) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are seeking a consultant to design a pilot list of core gender‑sensitive climate change indicators and to produce methodological guidance for their use. The consultant will work closely with both agencies to ensure the indicators are technically sound, feasible, and usable across pilot countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a concise pilot list of core gender‑sensitive climate change indicators.
• Produce detailed methodological guidance accompanying each indicator.
• Facilitate an iterative review process with stakeholders to ensure technical quality and relevance.
• Support capacity‑building activities in selected pilot countries, including training and knowledge transfer.
• Document lessons learned and provide recommendations for scaling the indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in gender‑responsive climate change measurement or related research.
• Familiarity with UN processes and multi‑stakeholder collaboration.
• Ability to produce clear methodological documentation.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in capacity‑building initiatives.
