Construction Worker II

About the role

The City of Albuquerque is seeking a Construction Worker II to support the construction, maintenance, repair, and remodeling of municipal facilities and parks. This full‑time position involves a wide range of hands‑on tasks across building interiors and exteriors, ensuring projects meet safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rough and finish carpentry, masonry, block laying, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, minor welding, plastering, roofing, tiling, fence installation, and sheetrock work on city structures.
• Construct and finish concrete elements such as sidewalks, drive pads, curbs, steps, and ramp landings.
• Read and follow blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to meet project specifications.
• Repair and remodel interiors, including flooring, paneling, and sheetrock finishing.
• Install and repair wood and metal doors, frames, windows, and high‑security locksets.
• Operate hydraulic and power equipment safely.
• Lead and train laborers or helpers on assigned tasks.
• Respond courteously to public inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant construction experience preferred.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy materials.
• Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and city regulations.
