Construction Worker II – CIP Park Construction

About the role

The Construction Worker II supports the construction, maintenance, repair, and remodeling of city facilities and parks. This position involves a broad range of hands‑on tasks, from rough carpentry to concrete work, ensuring that municipal structures meet safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rough and finish carpentry, masonry, block laying, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, minor welding, plastering, roofing, tiling, fence installation, and sheetrock work on wooden, concrete, brick, or metal buildings.
• Construct interior and exterior framing, stairs, ramps, and high‑tensile or chain‑link fencing.
• Build and finish cement structures such as sidewalks, curbs, ramps, and drive pads, including formwork, pouring, leveling, and finishing.
• Read and follow blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to meet project specifications.
• Install and repair doors, windows, hardware, and high‑security locksets.
• Lead and train laborers or helpers on assigned tasks.
• Respond courteously to public inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus at least 30 credit hours of specialized training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, or welding.
• Minimum two (2) years of general construction experience.
• Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
