Construction Technician – Pipeline Maintenance

About the role

TC Energy is seeking a Construction Technician to support pipeline construction and mechanical activities across the United States. The role is based in Rayne, LA and involves frequent travel to construction sites, where you will help maintain the integrity of natural‑gas pipeline infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Ship and receive materials for projects and operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and torches.
• Gather material test reports (MTRs) and perform red‑line reviews/FMRs with engineering teams.
• Assist with ordering welding consumables and manage inventory of coating materials.
• Operate equipment for off‑loading trucks and oversee small‑equipment certification logs.
• Catalog and complete project record binders; support crew leaders with documentation, qualifications, and procedures.
• Participate in constructability, safety, and compliance reviews.
• Cross‑train with project planners, provide information for quotations, and fill in as needed.
• Perform other tasks required to support pipeline maintenance and emergency response.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in a mechanical or construction environment.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a safe driving record.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol screening.
• Willingness to be on call 24/7 and work extended days/weeks for emergencies.
• Frequent travel (approximately 75%) with overnight stays away from home.

Required skills

• Operation of power tools (drills, grinders, torches).
• Material handling and inventory management.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of equipment certification and compliance procedures.
• Understanding of pipeline construction and maintenance processes.
