Construction Safety Technician

About the role

The Construction Safety Technician will partner with Tesla’s construction teams, stakeholders, and partner contractors to embed and continuously improve the company’s Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) strategy. Working directly in the field, you will ensure that all construction activities meet or exceed Tesla’s rigorous safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary EHS advisor for construction projects, identifying risks and ensuring legal compliance.
• Investigate safety events, determine root causes, and implement preventative actions.
• Conduct proactive field and facility inspections, document findings, and recommend improvements.
• Lead routine and ad‑hoc EHS meetings, communicating program updates, incident learnings, and KPI performance.
• Deliver orientation‑level training, coach teams on fundamental EHS concepts, and model safe work practices on‑site.

Required profile

• 3+ years progressive EHS experience in large‑scale organizations or 6 years in construction safety.
• Degree in EHS, engineering, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with craft workers, foremen, regulators, and senior leadership.
• Proven experience with EHS regulatory systems, policy development, and large‑group training.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and passionate about safety.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• EHS regulatory compliance and incident investigation.
• Use of internal and external EHS software tools for reporting and tracking.
