Construction Laborer – Highway & Roadway Projects

About the role

The Laborer supports journeyman trades on highway and roadway construction and demolition projects. This hands‑on role involves site preparation, material handling, and operating a variety of tools while working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist journeyman trades with highway and roadway construction and demolition.
• Perform site preparation, earthwork, trenching, and debris removal.
• Handle and carry materials up to 60 lbs; climb ladders and scaffolding.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and handheld equipment such as a jackhammer and earth tamper.
• Support asphalt paving, concrete placement, and form work.
• Help with traffic control setup and safety procedures.
• Travel frequently to various project sites and work flexible hours.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to understand and follow traffic control plans and safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills to interact with drivers, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Basic knowledge of road construction safety practices and traffic laws.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift equipment, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused in a high‑risk environment.
• Dependability, punctuality and willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime.
