Construction Field Inspector

About the role

The Construction Field Inspector will support NYCHA’s Capital Programs by performing on‑site inspections of new construction, rehabilitation, repairs, alterations, and structural maintenance projects. Reporting to the Construction Field Supervisor, the inspector ensures that work complies with plans, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and inspect contractors' work for compliance with design plans, contract specifications, and prevailing wage requirements.
• Verify that site safety protocols, insurance coverage, and required permits are in place and maintained.
• Assess general contractors’ proposed schedules to ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.
• Monitor construction progress, document findings, and communicate any non‑conformances to project teams.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Experience conducting construction inspections on public or large‑scale residential projects.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and contract administration.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document observations clearly.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and coordinating with diverse teams.
