Compliance Officer – Research Security

About the role

The Texas A&M University System’s Research Security Office is seeking a Compliance Officer to oversee adherence to federal, state and system research security regulations. Reporting to senior leadership, the officer will help protect sensitive research data and ensure the university’s compliance posture remains strong.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, establish and maintain a comprehensive compliance program aligned with ethical standards and applicable laws.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state and TAMU regulatory standards, including statutes, codes, policies and directives.
• Identify compliance vulnerabilities, devise corrective action plans, and bring non‑compliant areas into alignment.
• Recommend and draft program guidelines, procedures, policies and regulations.
• Support research security training initiatives and respond to subject‑matter‑expert review requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of four years of related compliance or research security experience.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Effective problem‑solving skills.
