Compliance Analyst – Issues, Events & Remediation

About the role

American Express is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join the Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) organization. In this role you will help design, implement and govern the firm’s Issues, Events and Remediation framework, ensuring compliance risks are managed effectively across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing a sustainable Compliance Issues Management Program for the compliance organization.
• Support processes that ensure compliance‑related Issues, Events and Remediations meet program expectations, including timely resolution and policy adherence.
• Analyze data and create reports and controls to monitor adherence and governance of the Issues, Events and Remediations program.
• Drive consistency in content and quality of compliance‑related Issues, Events and Remediations throughout their lifecycles.
• Advise compliance partners and first‑line-of‑defence stakeholders on program requirements.
• Support audit and regulatory exam queries and related initiatives as needed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Law, Compliance, Business or a related discipline.
• Professional regulatory compliance certification preferred (e.g., CRMC, CAMS, CCEP, CIP).
• Experience in a large, complex financial institution is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of consumer banking products.
• Ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities under tight timeframes.
• Experience supporting risk exam management processes or project management is advantageous.
• Proven ability to engage with all levels of management and build strong relationships.
