Community Specialist – MS NOW Platform

About the role

The Community Specialist will lead the engagement strategy for the MS NOW platform, shaping the tone and culture of the membership community. Reporting to the Director of Community, you will manage day‑to‑day interactions, moderation and live‑event support while collaborating with editorial, product and audience teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute daily community engagement plans across comments, discussions and member groups.
• Moderate member interactions, apply community guidelines and make independent decisions on complex cases.
• Design and run community programming such as AMAs, watch parties, prompts and live‑event experiences.
• Lead real‑time engagement during major news events, handling sensitive political conversations with discretion.
• Manage moderation workflows and coordinate with third‑party vendors to improve tools and processes.
• Identify emerging trends, sentiment shifts and engagement opportunities, providing insights to editorial, product and audience teams.

Required profile

• Highly organized with strong judgment in fast‑moving, politically sensitive environments.
• Excellent written communication and the ability to foster constructive, inclusive discussions.
• Proactive problem‑solver who can work independently and know when to escalate issues.
