Community Lead

About the role

Sapien is looking for a Community Lead to own its internal and external community functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will blend event planning, talent scouting, and operational support to strengthen relationships with finance leaders and prospective hires.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end event execution, including weekly dinners, monthly hiring events in NYC and two other cities, and CFO gatherings.
• Manage the full Sapien event calendar on Luma, coordinating reading groups, team events, and external programming.
• Run outbound recruiting pipelines: source candidates via LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and warm channels, schedule coffee chats, support screening, and move prospects through Ashby.
• Craft the candidate experience with personal outreach, event invitations, LinkedIn shout‑outs, and event photography.
• Track and improve community and recruiting KPIs such as event‑to‑interview conversion and channel performance.
• Organize in‑office programming (AI reading groups, poker nights, team dinners) and ensure moments are captured and shared.
• Support the CEO on cross‑functional projects across ops, engineering, and GTM as needed.

Required profile

• 2–5 years experience in venture capital, startup operations, talent/recruiting, or a community‑facing tech role.
• Natural relationship builder who follows up and connects people without prompting.
• Proven event‑planning chops, able to create memorable gatherings and handle logistics.
• Strong written communication, capable of drafting LinkedIn posts, outreach messages, and event recaps.
• Data‑driven mindset, tracking metrics and using them to guide decisions.
• Fluent understanding of tech and finance ecosystems, comfortable speaking with CFOs and founders.
