About the role
The Texas A&M Center for Community Health & Aging is seeking energetic Community Health Organizers to support its Opioid Prevention for K‑12 Students (TOPS) program across several Texas cities. You will act as a bridge between schools, community leaders, and the university, helping to design, deliver, and evaluate opioid‑prevention education.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate outreach events and training sessions for high schools, middle schools, and community stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison between school decision‑makers and the TOPS program team.
- Plan, implement, and assess health‑education activities, ensuring alignment with program goals.
- Travel independently to multiple sites, sometimes covering up to 50% of work time.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of program outcomes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in public health, health education, or a related field.
- At least four years of experience in public/community relations, event planning, or similar roles.
- Certification as a Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or CHW Instructor is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Required skills
- Proficiency with word‑processing applications.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
