Community Assistant – Student Living (Union Blacksburg)

About the role

We are looking for a Community Assistant to support the property management team at Greystar’s Union Blacksburg student‑living community. The role focuses on administrative, leasing and resident‑service tasks to help achieve occupancy and retention targets. The assistant will act as a liaison between residents and management, ensuring timely resolution of issues and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

• Perform office administration such as copying, filing resident files, preparing notices and organizing rent payments.
• Assist with leasing activities: conduct virtual tours, respond to online inquiries, greet and qualify prospects, show apartments and prepare lease paperwork.
• Support move‑in and move‑out processes, including coordinating mandatory work dates and “turn” periods.
• Answer incoming calls, schedule prospect appointments and conduct on‑campus marketing outreach to generate qualified traffic.
• Coordinate resident events and programs, distribute communications, and handle after‑hours emergencies on a rotating on‑call schedule.

Required profile

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple administrative tasks.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, move‑in/move‑out dates and at least one on‑call shift per week.
• Interest in student‑living environments and community building.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
