Community Assistant – Student Living at District at Tar River

About the role

The Community Assistant supports the property management team at District at Tar River, a student‑living community, by handling administrative, leasing, and resident‑service tasks. This onsite position helps achieve occupancy and retention goals while ensuring a positive resident experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform office admin duties: copy documents, file resident records, prepare notices, handle calls, and organize rent payments.
• Assist sales and leasing: conduct virtual tours, respond to online inquiries, greet and qualify prospects, give property tours, and show apartments.
• Prepare lease paperwork and maintain resident lease files.
• Support move‑in and move‑out processes, including mandatory “turn” dates; request any time off in writing.
• Answer incoming calls and schedule prospect appointments.
• Conduct on‑campus marketing outreach to generate community awareness and qualified traffic.
• Coordinate resident events such as parties, birthday cards, unit visits, and other programs to boost satisfaction.
• Distribute notices, flyers, newsletters, resident surveys, and late notices.
• Serve as after‑hours liaison, responding to emergencies; work at least one on‑call shift per week.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to handle administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on‑call shifts.
• Commitment to attend mandatory move‑in/move‑out dates and obtain prior approval for any exceptions.
