Communications Strategist

About the role

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is seeking a Communications Strategist to join the Brand and Engagement Strategies team. The role blends big‑picture storytelling with targeted messaging to support the organization’s health‑focused mission.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, write, and edit long‑ and short‑form content for internal and external channels, maintaining brand voice across digital and print media.
• Translate complex business and healthcare information into clear, compelling communications.
• Partner with leaders and internal stakeholders to develop and evaluate communication plans aligned with organizational priorities.
• Ensure timely, relevant, and audience‑focused delivery of updates, initiatives, and projects.
• Establish metrics to monitor communication effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
• Coordinate special projects, events, and related tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 + years of professional writing or journalism experience, preferably within a communications or marketing team or agency.
• Strong listening, interviewing, and investigative abilities.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines while delivering high‑quality content.

• Competitive base salary range $75,000‑$83,000.
