Communications Specialist

About the role

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to support collective bargaining goals and ALPA‑wide communication initiatives from its Tysons (McLean) office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide communications support for the advancement of the Association’s collective bargaining objectives.
• Develop and execute strategic media strategies that build awareness for pilot group initiatives.
• Assist Master Executive Councils (MECs) and other pilot groups with communication planning, packaging, placement, and timing.
• Manage social‑media campaigns (organic and paid), media relations, advertising (digital, outdoor, print), video production, email marketing, and web content support.
• Coordinate tactical communication efforts during end‑game negotiations, special events, and other high‑visibility projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Minimum five years of experience in a communications role, preferably within an advocacy, union or aviation environment.
• Strong organizational, project‑management and writing abilities.
• Excellent problem‑solving, consensus‑building and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally 25‑45% of the time.
