Communications Manager – Storytelling & Content Lead

About the role

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is looking for a creative and strategic Communications Manager to shape how the organization shares its mission, impact, and priorities. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will turn strategic goals into compelling stories that engage donors, volunteers, partners, and the broader community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop written content for campaigns, publications, digital channels, fundraising, executive communications, and other initiatives.
• Interview staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to uncover and craft authentic stories.
• Translate organizational priorities into clear, audience‑focused messaging across speeches, articles, web copy, email, reports, and more.
• Manage the editorial calendar, uphold voice, tone, and accuracy standards, and expand the Federation’s story library.
• Partner with Development, Impact, program, Design, Marketing, and Public Relations teams to ensure content is delivered effectively across channels.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in communications, project coordination, event support, or a related field.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Sound judgment, adaptability, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to anticipate needs.
