About the role
The Planning and Facilities Management Communications Manager works within Georgetown University’s Planning & Facilities Management (PFM) unit to raise awareness and understanding of PFM projects across the campus. Partnering with the Office of Strategic Communications and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, the role supports a transparent internal culture.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement strategic communication plans for PFM initiatives and construction projects.
- Coordinate with PFM leadership and university stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate messaging.
- Draft communications for students, faculty, staff, and the broader Georgetown community.
- Serve as deputy to the Director of Internal Communications, protecting the university brand.
- Increase visibility of PFM projects through internal and external channels.
- Support internal communications for University Information Services, Finance, Auxiliary Services, and Human Resources.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in facilities management, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher education, or a non‑profit setting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong judgment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work evenings/weekends, and manage high‑volume communication initiatives.
