About the role
The Town of Riverdale Park is looking for a strategic, hands‑on Communications Manager to lead community engagement and ensure residents, businesses, and stakeholders receive clear, timely, and trusted information. This leadership position blends strategy, content creation, and real‑time emergency communications.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the town’s communications and public‑engagement strategy.
- Serve as the primary media contact and manage public‑information requests, including MPIA.
- Write, edit, and publish press releases, newsletters, website content, and official communications.
- Produce and oversee the Town Crier, email newsletters, social‑media posts, and website updates.
- Record and prepare official meeting minutes for the Mayor, Council, and Boards/Commissions.
- Manage branding, messaging, and visual identity across all town communications.
- Coordinate marketing and outreach for town programs, services, and initiatives.
- Oversee multimedia production such as video, photography, and cable programming.
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies based on performance data.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, residents, businesses, and community stakeholders.
- Support real‑time communications during emergencies and critical incidents.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of five years of professional communications, media relations, or public‑information experience.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Experience managing digital platforms, websites, and social‑media channels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within 12 months.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and during emergencies as needed.

- Competitive salary range $75,000 – $95,000 per year.
