Communications Associate

About the role

David Zwirner is seeking a Communications Associate to join its New York Communications team. The role supports day‑to‑day press and communications operations, bridging editorial, social, and institutional storytelling for a leading international gallery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor press coverage using Google Alerts and Meltwater, clip and archive articles across print, digital, newsletters and emerging platforms such as Substack and podcasts.
• Maintain and expand the gallery’s media contact database, focusing on independent writers and critics.
• Track the media landscape, identify new publications and voices relevant to contemporary art and culture.
• Manage the press@ inbox, route requests, and coordinate the online press room with the web team.
• Prepare internal and external media reports for leadership, artists, and estates.
• Organise press previews, handling RSVPs, scheduling and logistics.
• Support exhibition campaigns across all communication channels and coordinate mailings of David Zwirner Books to media contacts.
• Collaborate with the global communications team to streamline processes and oversee the communications intern.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in art history, communications, journalism or a related field.
• 3‑4 years of experience in communications, public relations or a similar role, preferably within a gallery or art institution.
• Highly organized with strong time‑management and written communication abilities.
