Commissioning Project Development Engineer

About the role

The Commissioning Project Development Engineer combines technical commissioning expertise with business development and client relationship management. You will act as a trusted advisor to building owners and facility managers, creating customized solutions that improve reliability, energy efficiency, and overall building performance across commercial and institutional sites in the Greater Cleveland area.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with building owners, facility managers, consulting engineers, and internal project teams.
• Identify commissioning and retro‑commissioning opportunities through client engagement and facility assessments.
• Develop customized commissioning solutions aligned with client goals for energy efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.
• Support proposal preparation, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Lead commissioning and retro‑commissioning projects from initial assessment through testing, verification, and closeout.
• Evaluate HVAC systems, building automation systems (BAS), lighting controls, and other building systems via site investigations and functional testing.
• Create commissioning plans, testing procedures, documentation, and project reports consistent with industry standards.
• Perform functional performance testing, trend analysis, and system verification, recommending corrective actions for identified deficiencies.

Required profile

• Engineering professional with experience in commissioning, retro‑commissioning, and client relationship management.
• Proven ability to work on commercial and institutional facilities.
• Strong communication skills for client presentations and proposal development.
