Commercial Attorney – In-House Risk Team

About the role

This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of legal strategy, business operations, and client engagement within a leading global law firm. The Commercial Attorney will support the in‑house Risk team by drafting, negotiating, and managing sophisticated client‑facing agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts across multiple industries.
• Ensure client agreements comply with ethical standards and internal policies.
• Identify legal and business risks in contracts and propose practical mitigation solutions.
• Advise firm partners on contractual requirements and business‑related requests.
• Create and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and guidance materials.
• Support responses to client compliance inquiries, audits, and due‑diligence requests.
• Collaborate with Finance, Business Development, Information Security, and other risk professionals on firm initiatives.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) with at least 4 years of experience at a top‑tier law firm or in an internal legal role.
• Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong client‑facing abilities.
• Ability to assess legal and commercial risks and make business‑oriented decisions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
• Strong organizational and project‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to broader risk‑management initiatives.
