Collision Body Technician

About the role

Gerber Collision & Glass is looking for an Auto Body Technician to deliver an excellent customer experience by assessing and repairing each vehicle to its pre-accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs and reassembles vehicles, working with the team to meet repair facility KPIs and acting as a Brand Ambassador for The Boyd Group.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan and plan repairs, preparing cost estimates for customers
• Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers and pliers to repair vehicle sections
• Hammer out dents and dimples, mix and apply filler resin when other methods are not feasible
• Realign chassis and frames to fix structural damage
• Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts
• Replace or repair glass, windshields and interior parts as needed
• Weld and fit parts, then prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or an agreed equivalent
• Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
• Able to read job orders and work with little supervision
• Able to work safely in a noisy area with strong odors, lift up to 30 pounds, and bend, stretch, kneel and squat

Required skills

• Thorough understanding of methods and procedures for repairing vehicle bodies
• Thorough understanding of the tools used in the trade
