College Bookstore Worker

About the role

The College Bookstore Worker provides front‑line assistance to students, faculty and visitors in a campus bookstore. This position is part of the Federal Work‑Study program and offers a supportive environment for students seeking on‑site employment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers courteously and help them locate textbooks, supplies, clothing, snacks and other merchandise.
• Answer, screen and route telephone calls, delivering accurate messages promptly.
• Promote special sales, discounts and promotional events to shoppers.
• Maintain clear pricing displays and ensure merchandise is attractively presented.
• Assist with inventory control, stock rotation and shelf replenishment.
• Perform general clerical duties, including maintaining a clean and orderly store environment.
• Adhere to scheduled work hours, break policies and attendance procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Financial need and Pell eligibility (required for Federal Work‑Study).
• Experience in retail sales, customer service or merchandising preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb, bend, stoop and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills and a courteous, “can‑do” attitude.
