Coatings Application Specialist (Refinish)

About the role

Axalta Coating Systems is looking for a Coatings Application Specialist to join its Global Innovation Center in Philadelphia. The specialist works within the Refinish GBT Technology Organization and runs experiments that simulate customer shop conditions to solve problems and optimize refinish products.

Key responsibilities

• Use knowledge of Axalta Refinish products and their application
• Apply hand spray and machine spray protocols to simulate customer conditions
• Load, spray and test refinish samples
• Design experiments to resolve customer issues or develop refinish products
• Document results in Excel and PowerPoint
• Resolve customer complaints on technical and color issues, verify them and report back to customers, sales reps and R&D
• Travel to customer sites or the Product Development Center in Lionville, PA as needed
• Contribute to cross-functional teams on application testing and customer technical service

Required profile

• 5+ years of application experience with a thorough understanding of collision shop products and work practices
• Excellent hand spray skills, including blending techniques
• Ability to work with and train technicians in basic and advanced paint application
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills

Required skills

• Color retrieval software and color measurement
• Refinish repair techniques such as sanding and body filler
• Spray equipment used in the refinish industry
• Proficiency in MS Office
