Coating Operator

About the role

Join Walter USA’s state‑of‑the‑art Solid Carbide Drills facility in Greer, SC as a Coating Furnace Operator on the 2nd shift. You will work in a fully air‑conditioned production environment, handling critical coating processes for cutting tools.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload furnace loads, clean, leak‑check, and maintain furnace equipment.
• Break down coating loads for subsequent operations and perform microscope inspections for quality defects.
• Maintain supporting systems such as vacuum, gas, and water.
• Complete both paper and digital documentation, ensuring a clean and orderly work area.
• Monitor and troubleshoot coating processes via computerized and manual controls, performing manual adjustments as directed.
• Conduct routine and unscheduled maintenance, preventive maintenance, and visual inspections using microscopes.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Maintain SPC, production, inventory, and operational records; use SAP terminals for job order and material tracking.
• Interpret product prints and GD&T specifications, notifying personnel of any irregularities.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and passion for craftsmanship.
• Positive attitude; experience in cutter grinding or tool making is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with machine maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and understand technical blueprints, including GD&T specifications.
