CNC Programmer

About the role

Impulse Space is looking for a CNC Programmer who knows all CNC machining and programming operations. The role works directly with machines such as 3-axis and 5-axis units and interfaces with engineering teams, machinists and operations to optimise machining programs and procedures. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver parts quickly for engine, vehicle, avionics and test development.
• Use CAM software such as NX, MasterCam, HSM Works, Fusion 360, ESPRIT and Hypermill, learning new tools rapidly.
• Produce hardware on machines and OEM software including Heidenhain, Okuma OSP, Siemens and Fanuc.
• Manage digital tool libraries and tool magazines to increase shop throughput.
• Adjust speed and feed for carbide tools and suggest design changes that improve manufacturability.
• Program billet parts with minimal fixturing and design fixture tooling on the fly.
• Keep products moving, flag bottlenecks to management and propose process improvements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of CNC programming experience with CAM packages.
• 4+ years on 5-axis mills, mill-turns and live-tool turret lathes.
• Hands-on experience on manual and CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Ability to pick up new CAM software quickly and manage large tool libraries.
• Attention to detail and a fast pace of execution.

Preferred skills

• Experience setting up machine shops and evaluating capital equipment purchases.
• 4+ years programming turbomachinery, including MAX-PAC.
• Python programming or similar.
