CNC Machinist

About the role

Radiant Industries is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its engineering team in El Segundo, CA. You will program, set up, and operate CNC equipment to produce precision components for the company’s portable nuclear microreactors, ensuring high quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC programs for 3‑axis, 4‑axis, and 5‑axis mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers.
• Set up and run CNC machines to validate new programs and processes.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T specifications.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to improve part manufacturability and reduce cycle times.
• Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters for materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and Inconel.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain high‑quality output and machine uptime.
• Continuously improve machining processes using data‑driven feedback and experimentation.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards across all machining operations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on CNC machining and programming experience in a precision manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Strong ability to translate engineering designs into manufacturable parts.
• Proven track record of working collaboratively with engineers and quality teams.

Required skills

• CNC programming and operation (3‑axis, 4‑axis, 5‑axis).
• Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, or CATIA.
• Deep understanding of G‑code, M‑code, feeds, speeds, and toolpath strategies.
• Interpretation of complex technical drawings and GD&T.
• Selection of tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters for a variety of metals.
