CMM Operator

About the role

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable, on‑time inspection of Alfa Laval spare parts using the Coordinate Measure Machine (CMM). This onsite position is located in Indianapolis, IN, and contributes directly to the company’s quality and growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the Mitutoyo Crysta‑Apex‑121210 CMM for spare‑part inspection in compliance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation, Buy America CFR, and applicable Alfa Laval and Military Standard specifications.
• Perform manual hand‑tool inspections of spare parts according to Quality Inspection Plans.
• Conduct weld inspections following ANSI/ASNT CP‑105 standards.
• Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete additional spare‑part inspections as directed.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma tools within the Alfa Laval Performance System to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Backfill other inspection tasks when needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience using a CMM to inspect against drawings with GD&T.
• Proficiency with hand‑measuring tools.
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools (5S, DMAIC, Kaizen, SOPs).
• Familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, and SharePoint (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of WMS and Movex (preferred).
• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
