Clinical Specialist – Labor & Delivery

About the role

The Clinical Specialist (CS) in Labor & Delivery is a licensed RN who provides expert nursing practice, education, and system leadership to improve patient care and staff competency on a high‑risk obstetrical unit.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence‑based education, orientation, and professional development for nursing staff.
• Validate skills and competencies, support shared governance, and lead quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, serve as a consultant and change agent, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Valid RN license and BSN; graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• At least 4 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in labor & delivery and 2 years in a leadership role such as Charge Nurse or RN IV.
• Ability to work independently and wear PPE (N95, PAPR, CAPR).

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of nursing practice and standards in obstetrics.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and leadership abilities.
