Clinical Nurse III – Pediatric Emergency (Night Shift)

About the role

The Pediatric Emergency Department seeks a Clinical Nurse III to provide high‑quality, compassionate care during night shifts. You will manage patient care from admission through discharge, coordinating with physicians and the care team to ensure safe transitions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments and procedures.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
• Assess patient needs, monitor responses to care, and apply sound nursing judgment.
• Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non‑occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to develop and update each patient’s Plan of Care.
• Direct ancillary personnel and uphold professional nursing standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate).
• Current New York State Registered Nurse license.
• 1–3 years of clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably at a large academic Level 1 Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
• Commitment to continuing education and quality improvement.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
