Circuit Breaker Technician – In‑Shop (Dallas)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Circuit Breaker Technician to work in our climate‑controlled breaker shop in Dallas. You will lead advanced work on low, medium, and high voltage circuit breakers and provide mentorship to junior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, rebuilding, retrofitting, testing, and repair of low, medium, and high voltage switchgear.
- Disassemble and reassemble breakers, contactors, and related electrical apparatus.
- Handle high‑voltage switchgear up to 3000 A (SF‑6 Vacuum CB, 13.8 kV/11 kV), medium‑voltage up to 5000 A (Vacuum CB, 34.5 kV/4.16 kV/6 kV), and low‑voltage up to 5000 A (Air CB, 480 V/400 V).
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians.
- Lead on‑site breaker testing and repair projects, including occasional overnight travel.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management to improve shop operations.
Required profile
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex circuit breaker and switchgear systems.
- Experience with OEM breaker manufacturers or similar high‑stakes environments.
- In‑depth knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and power systems.
- Mastery of testing equipment such as Megger, digital multimeter, Hi‑Pot tester, oil dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary & secondary injection set, cable fault detector, and oscilloscope.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex schematics and wiring diagrams.
- NETA Level 2, 3, or 4 certification is highly desirable.
