About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Human Services is seeking a County Director to lead Child Welfare Services in Camden County. This senior position oversees the administration, policy implementation, and delivery of services that protect children and support families.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state policies, documentation standards, and reporting requirements.
• Lead a team of supervisors and social services staff, providing direction, training, and performance management.
• Develop, administer, and monitor the county’s budget for child welfare programs.
• Foster collaborative relationships with community partners, other agencies, and the county DFCS Board.
• Oversee case-level communication and policy‑level coordination across the unit.
• Manage human‑resources functions, including hiring, discipline, and employee development.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in child welfare, family services, or related public‑service fields.
• Proven leadership and supervisory abilities in a government or nonprofit setting.
• Strong knowledge of state regulations, budgeting, and reporting processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building community and inter‑agency partnerships.
