Child Welfare Services Case Manager – Georgia

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a motivated individual to join its Division of Family & Children Services as a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1. Working under supervision, you will provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened-in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement immediate safety plans for identified concerns.
• Locate children and families when contact is not initially possible.
• Apply Solution Based Casework (SBC) and collaborate on Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Complete genograms to map family support networks.
• Partner with community agencies to build supportive systems for children and families.
• Ensure regular, quality visits to promote safety, permanency, and well‑being.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; higher education in social work or related field preferred.
• Ability to work under supervision and learn investigative techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to protecting vulnerable children and adults.

Required skills

• Basic case management knowledge.
• Understanding of child welfare policies and procedures.
