Chief of Staff

About the role

The Chief of Staff will work directly with the CEO of a fast‑growing seed‑stage education technology startup. This high‑impact position is responsible for driving execution across the company’s top priorities, shaping operating rhythms, and tackling the toughest cross‑functional challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO to define, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives.
• Build and scale core Chief of Staff functions, expanding scope as the organization grows.
• Lead hiring, recruiting, and talent initiatives to support rapid team expansion.
• Serve as liaison with external partners such as legal counsel, advisors, and vendors.
• Act as a “SWAT team” to diagnose complex problems, design plans, and deliver outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with product teams on cross‑functional projects that influence product direction.
• Establish operating rhythms, ownership, and accountability across a flat organization.
• Support strategic workstreams, including fundraising and market‑facing initiatives.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in an analytical, execution‑focused environment (consulting, investment banking, private equity, finance, or business operations).
• Strong preference for startup experience or proven ability to thrive in fast‑moving, resource‑constrained settings.
• Familiarity with the venture capital and fundraising ecosystem.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• High ownership, urgency, and bias‑to‑action; comfortable building structure where none exists.
• Ability to coordinate work across multiple stakeholders and manage direct reports as the team expands.
• Willingness to work onsite in New York City and travel occasionally.
• Authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
