Chief Financial Officer

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior administrator responsible for overseeing all financial, operational, and personnel functions of the school. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the CFO ensures fiscal stability, compliance, and strategic financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee cash management, financial analysis, budgeting, debt compliance, and tax‑exempt financing.
• Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts; present findings to the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
• Maintain accurate general‑ledger records, journal entries, and periodic financial statements.
• Coordinate the annual audit and manage insurance, liability, and risk policies.
• Serve on the Finance Committee and support the Finance Committee Chair and Board of Trustees.
• Collaborate on tuition setting and financial aid distribution with Admissions leadership.
• Manage the school’s food service contract, bookstore, and other auxiliary enterprises.
• Supervise the Business Office Associate and oversee employee benefits, payroll, and compliance.
• Partner with the Director of Facilities on plant operations, procurement, and construction projects.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in senior financial leadership, preferably within an educational institution.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and endowment management.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and governing boards.
